About Drama Therapy
Drama Therapy is a psychotherapy that uses the structures, formats and practices in theatre to bring about experiences through different artistic mediums in individuals and groups, which have the potential to bring about personal growth, healing and connection to self and community.
India is a collectivistic society, rich in its own forms of varied arts, folklore performance practices, therefore Drama Therapy offers a powerful intervention that offers collective healing to the community that is culturally relevant, which has the power to bring about social reform.
A Drama Therapist is a person who has been through experiential education and rigorous training within a Drama Therapy course. They use storytelling, games, metaphors, puppets, creative arts, movement, music and a range of theatre exercises to bring about insight and reflection.
